Summer in the Lowcountry is full of sunshine, fun, and family time—but the South Carolina heat can be intense. At Lowcountry Urgent Care, we’re here to help you enjoy your summer while keeping your health and safety top of mind.
Here are some simple but important ways to protect yourself in the heat:
💧 Hydrate Throughout the Day
Staying hydrated is key during hot days. Drink water consistently, even if you’re not thirsty, and try to avoid sugary or caffeinated drinks, which can leave you dehydrated faster.
🌴 Take Breaks in the Shade
If you’re spending time outdoors—whether you’re at the beach, by the pool, or working outside—make sure to take regular breaks in the shade or in air conditioning to cool down.
🧴 Sunscreen Is a Must
The South Carolina sun is no joke! Apply sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and reapply every 2 hours. Be sure to cover easy-to-miss spots like ears, the back of your neck, and tops of your feet.
👕 Dress Light
Wear loose-fitting, breathable clothing in light colors. It helps your body stay cooler and protects your skin from direct sun exposure.
🐚 Know Your Limits
The heat can sneak up on you. If you start to feel tired, dizzy, or just off—listen to your body. Take a break, hydrate, and don’t push through it.
If the summer heat leaves you feeling less than your best, come see us at Lowcountry Urgent Care. We’re open 7 days a week and offer fast, friendly care with no appointment needed.
❤️ Stay safe, stay cool, and have a great summer!
